Musical Director; Teacher of Singing & Piano

Jack is a qualified teacher with a degree in education, as well as holding diplomas in specialist music teaching. As a professional musician, Jack combines his knowledge of the arts with high quality teaching and learning and is dedicated to the development of young performers. Proud of his Newport and Shropshire roots, Jack was delighted to join the team at The Arts Centre Telford in 2015.

Jack is Head of Music & Performing Arts at Brownhills Ormiston Academy. Jack previously taught at Broadway Academy in Birmingham, Wrekin College in Telford and Alumwell Junior School in Walsall.

Jack is a pianist, singing teacher and musical director at TACT. Before studying education, Jack studied piano and music theory under RCM professor Nicholas Moor, as well as musical theatre and popular music vocals to advanced diploma standard.

Jack was the Musical Director for A Choired Taste, a popular community choir in Newport. Jack was a Singing Lecturer for Coventry City Council and he conducted the Birmingham City Council Workplace Choirs as part of the Gareth Malone initiative. For 18 months, Jack was Head of Music at Starlight Dance & Musical Theatre School in Kettering.

Recent credits as an actor include Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar, Kenickie in Grease, Thane of Ross in Macbeth and The Minister in A New Brain. Recent credits as a Musical Director include Spamalot, 9 to 5, Legally Blonde, Scrooge the Musical, High School Musical, Sister Act, Peter Pan, Carousel and All Shook Up. Jack is the front-man of Fine Mess, a professional function band who play at weddings and parties across the Midlands.

Jack loves the dedication and energy of the TACT students and the focussed, highly positive environment that we have in Ketley as a result. He has particularly enjoyed being Musical Director for TACT productions and is looking forward to working on new and exciting projects going forward.

Jack is Lead Teacher at The Arts Centre Telford with responsibility for the TACT in Schools programme, Big Sing events and community events.
